Frequently Asked Questions
Please read through these before contacting us with questions!
Q: Are you Jon Lester?
A: We are NOT Jon Lester, nor did he start this project. The four of us are simply the founders of a charity project of The Jimmy Fund created to honor Jon Lester. We do NOT have a way to relay personal messages requesting appearances, autographs, or telephone calls/emails from Jon. To get in contact with him, we strongly suggest writing him at the following address:
Jon Lester
c/o The Boston Red Sox
4 Yawkey Way
Boston, MA 02215
Q: Why does my bracelet say #62 Striking Out Cancer? Jon's number is 31! Can you fix it?
A: When we began the project in September 2006, Jon was #62 for the Boston Red Sox. He changed his number during Spring Training, however due to having bulk orders, the bracelets remained "#62". We chose to not change the number in any future orders to keep consistency, as well as honor the number that Lester was when he fought cancer. The bracelet that Jon wears does in fact read #62.
Q: How much of the money goes to the Jimmy Fund?
A: Six dollars of the total six dollar cost per bracelet goes to the Jimmy Fund & Dana Farber Cancer Institute. The two dollars shipping that we charge goes towards shipping supplies and mailing costs. We are in no way profiting from the sales of these bracelets.
Q: Are you an official charity of the Jimmy Fund?
A: Yes we are, we have been officially approved as of October 2006 to be selling bracelets under the Jimmy Fund umbrella. If you would like to see any "official" approval, please feel free to e-mail us and we can provide it.
Q: How long will this project continue?
A: At the present time (August of 2007), the Lester Project plans to continue until the end of the 2007 baseball season. At that point, we will evalutate where we stand, and take it from there.
